How to be Blessed

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.  More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.  Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.  Psalm 19:7-11 (ESV)

The Word of God, the Bible, is the key to being blessed in this life and in the life to come.  God’s Word is perfect and just right for renewing our soul when we feel downtrodden, discouraged, and lifeless.  They give us instruction so that we can make wise choices when on our own we are unsure what path we should follow.  God’s Word brings joy to our heart because it gives us understanding of what is right.  They open our eyes to what is pure.  They are truth and righteousness against which everything else can be compared.  God’s Word is more desirable than great wealth and sweeter than pure honey.  If a person wants to be blessed and receive the greatest reward, he should cherish and follow the instructions of God’s Word.
